What Is Happening!

So we were about 30 minutes out of Banff, AB yesterday and we were stopped by a road block. They told us to turn around due to mud slides and  flooding. We were not happy, not knowing the extent of what we were about to encounter.

We headed about to downtown Calgary and stayed where we were going to stay after our three nights in Banff. We turned on the news and saw that a town, Canmore, that we had past issued a mandatory evacuation due to flooding!!
We had driven what was suppose to be 8.5 hours, turned to about 10 hours. So we got the dogs out by a downtown park right on the Elbow River. It was starting to flood!
In the third picture you can see the top of a chain link fence which is someone's yard! The houses around there had already been evacuated! Where we were!! The river rose and the park we were standing in taking the pictures, is now underwater.
We had no idea how big is was. Where we took these pictures, is now flooded!
It took us 2 hours to get out of Calgary this afternoon.
75,000 to 100,00 people have been evacuated.  Calgary doesn't have any power and downtown is under five feet of water in some places.

As I am writing this, the route we tooked out, Stoney trail is backed up for 2-3hours. We are glad we got put when we did.
We can't believe we picked Calgary/ Banff area when the worse flooding in many years.
We pray for all the families displaced and losing their home. It is a huge natural disaster.
The Saddle Dome where the Calgary Flames play is flooded up to the 10th row of seats.

Canadian military headed south toward Calgary to help.

We made it to Edmonton. Don't think we will get back to Banff. :( that was the placed I was looking forward to the most.

Took the dogs around downtown.
Saw this flyer.
Had my first fried Oreo.

We went to see World War Z and left the dogs in the hotel, like the have done before. Well, we get a call in the middle if the movie saying our dogs are lonely and they are barking. So we left the movies and on the way back to the hotel, my camera feel in the street and a car ran over it! It still works, but.....
